Mahatma Gandhi Statue is located on the beach front of Pondicherry at a distance of 2.5km from Pondicherry bus stand. Gandhi Statue is built by Famous sculptor Roy Choudhary from Madras School of Arts and Crafts.

Gandhi Statue is one of the major landmarks in Pondicherry  and brought the 8 exquisitely carved monolithic granite pillars from Gingee Fort that are surrounded by Gandhi Statue.

Mahatma Gandhi Statue in Pondicherry is the 3rd biggest Gandhi Statue stands 4m(13 feet) high in the world.  Gandhi Statue was inaugurated on 26 January 1965. In front of the statue there is a square that referred as Gandhi Thidal, where to plays host to various cultural and musical activities.

Gandhi statue is a tunnel which is believed to be leading to Gingee Fort, there were some efforts to explore the tunnel but few people died of suffocation, then the tunnel was closed.

One of the best place to the locals and tourists from all over the world. And Eye catching Place in Pondicherry. Café and hotels are near by the statue to enjoy and view the beauty of nature.
