Pondicherry Museum

Pondicherry Museum for its unique collection of sculptures is situated in Bharathi Park in the distance of 3km from the Pondicherry bus station. Museum is one of the best sightseeing place in Pondicherry.

 Museum contains remains of archaeological findings from Arikamedu Romen Settlement and Excellent gallery with sculptures. All the gallery artifacts that are in the Museum belongs to the period of “Cholas and Pallavas” rule of Pondicherry & Karaikal.

 Several other things that dating back to different periods are also preserved here like “Burial urns, French furniture, Terracotta figures, Crockery, Guns, Swords, Paintings, Mirrors”.

 So many painting sections are there such as “Tanjore and Glass paintings, Colonial prints and Contemporary oils, Pastels and Water colors”. Along with handicrafts, Art work, Temple lamps, there is bronze statues of several gods and goddesses.

Ground floor museum has a Palanquin and Pousse-Pousse exhibited. Museum also had a wide range of snail shells that are collected by our beaches near Pondicherry.

 Timings: 10AM-5PM(Closed on Mondays & National Holidays)

Entrance Fee: Rs.15 Per Person.
