Velrampet Lake Boat House

Velrampet Lake Boat House is an Eco-tourism spot. One of the few major surviving waterbodies located in an expanse of over 100 hectares of  Velrampet Lake.

Murungapakkam and Kombakkam areas are the main source of groundwater for Velrampet Lake.

Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi was revived under an ambitious programme launched for the lake suffered from severe environmental degradation over the years due to dumping of garbage and illegal fishing. Now the lake turned into a boat house for tourist.

G.Kumar, Conservator of forests – The Hindu,  told over 2,000 trees of various species including Peltophorum, Cassia Tora, Pongamia, Anthocephalus Cadamba will be planted around the lake to attract more migratory birds.

60 Species of migratory birds have been sighted in the lake. Velrampet Lake Boat House is one of the places to visit in Pondicherry.

Timings: 9AM- 6PM.
